I'm BACK!!!!! Thank God my gym has internet access, since my home computer is crashed. Now, I can update this thing AND there is no excuse not to get a cardio workout in today. WOO HOO!!!
Now, where were we.... Oh, cheesy dating books. I have been reading them exclusively for about 2 months now, and they really don't teach you anything new. They do, however, decrease your self esteem

The author of that book let the reader know how he instantly went from scumbag to Captain Romance the minute he met his wife. So, this means my last lover smoked my weed, ate my pizza and dumped me because he was just not that into ME!!! When he meets the woman of his dreams, he will write her mushy love poems and lick her toes while they make mad passionate love Knowing my luck, that woman will be one of my friends or my next door neighbor and I will have my failure rubbed in my face at least once a week. I have to look at them hangling all over each other in public, and I will have to pretend I am happy for them. Hey Greg, thanks for throwing salt in my wounds. You're the best!
There is nothing I could've done to save the fling. You see, my old lover simply decided within 5 minutes of meeting me that I belonged to that compartment of women who are suitable to fuck but not to be seen with in public and certainly not to marry! He is a man and it is God given right to make such decisions about me after knowing me for 30 seconds. According to traditional human mating customs the female is NEVER supposed to pursue the male. This is how it has been for centuries and even "science" says we cannot change it. This is because the chemicals in men's brains cause them to respond to visual stinmuli, while the chemicals in women's brains drive us to look for security... BLAH BLAH BLAH...

The dating scene is a merketplace and we are all "selling" ourselves to each other. The man can choose his target audience and make a pitch for her affection. She might think he rates a 5.5 on the 1-10 scale, but he can negoitate a higher score by being funny, being a good provider or letting her cry on his shoulder when some hotter guy breaks her heart. The woman can only dress up her store front and hope the customer she wants approaches her. If that man thinks she rates a 5.5 that 's her score. If the only men who approach her are men she doesn't find attractive, then she must alter her standards accordingly.
Being forced to accept these less than favorable terms in the most primal aspect of our lives from the onset of puberty is what desnsitizes us to things like inequality in the workplace. You see, it is not porn and prostitution and oppress and exploit women. It is these poisonous books that were supposedly written for our empowerment. Sorry, Hillary but America will never elect a female president as long as books like "He's Just Not That Into You" and "The Rules" are best sellers.
As for me, if my soul mate is the 500lb man in the Tweety Brid shirt who asked me out last month, I think I'll sell my soul to the devil.
I am now officially done with cheesy dating books. If my self esteem takes another hit, I'll become too depressed to leave my apartment. I'd organize a book burning but I believe in freedom of speech. All I can do is stay online and express my opinions whether you like them or not.
